Faulty Garage Door: Repair or Replace?

This is a subtitle for your new post
When something goes wrong with your garage door, you are faced with two choices: garage door repair or replace it entirely. There are several factors to consider when making this decision. Something definitely has to be done about a damaged garage door. It poses security risks, safety risks, and could provide a way for pests to get into your garage. It also impacts your curb appeal if you have an old, poorly functioning garage door. However, how do you answer the question: “Faulty garage door: repair or replace?”
Consider The Age Of The Door
The first thing you should consider is the age of the door. If the door has even minor damage but it is between ten and twenty years old, you may want to consider replacing it. It is already approaching the end of its lifespan, so it may not be worth spending time and money on garage door repairs when you could just replace it with a brand-new one. If you choose to repair an older door, it is likely to give you more and more problems in the future. Buying a new door will also yield other benefits, like giving your home a facelift with a trendy, new design, increasing the curb appeal of your property.
Assess the type of damage
Has the door sustained structural damage or just minor, cosmetic damage? The answer to this question will play a major role in whether you choose garage door repair or replacement. If the damage is minor, you will probably get more value out of repairing the door rather than replacing it. If there is moderate structural damage, you could go either way, but it may be worth seriously considering a replacement. If the damage is severe, and cannot open and close as it normally should, there may be no other alternative except to replace it. A garage door technician will be able to advise you on the best options in this regard.
What Is The Extent Of The Damage?
The type of damage is not the only thing to consider. You also need to look at the extent of the damage or wear. If you are dealing with several areas of damage or malfunction, such as broken panels, jerky operation, worn-out springs, or a faulty motor, then you should probably seriously consider buying a new garage door.
What Are The Costs Of Both Options?
Replacing a garage door can cost anywhere between a few hundred and a few thousand dollars - it depends on the type of door you choose. There are doors to suit all budgets. Garage door repairs are also variable, but will rarely cost more than a few hundred dollars.
